The generous interior of the family apartment perfectly balances contemporary aesthetics with maximum functionality. The new project by the architects from the arkhe studio responds to the needs of its inhabitants and creates a comfortable environment for a pleasant family life not far from the center of Prague.
The clients approached the arkhe studio with a clear vision of the layout and color scheme of the project.
“Muted green and the shade of cognac leather were the starting materials requested by the client, but we were given a free hand in how to incorporate them,” describes the early stages of the project architect Anna Dománková.
The color palette in natural tones is reflected in the social area and individual rooms. The centerpiece of the apartment is the open living zone connected to the dining room and kitchen. The built-in TV wall and kitchen unit enliven the space with green tones, but their surface treatment remains true to the grain of the wood, emphasizing the importance of craftsmanship and the quality of the chosen material. A dominant element of the room is also a spacious library made of natural oak, which cleverly conceals the entrance to the study and guest room.
“A significant added value of the space is its higher ceiling height, which is not typical for new constructions in Prague. In the design, we aimed to maximize this aspect to enhance the airiness of the entire interior,” adds the author of the design.
The resulting design of the apartment is rich in layers and detailed elements that give the interior of the new building a unique character. Vertical profiling is reflected in wooden elements, colorful surfaces, and metal details, visually creating a cohesive atmosphere throughout the rooms.
High ceilings allowed for the use of more robust standard furniture, which harmoniously fills the free space and enhances the feeling of coziness. The living room is complemented by Massif bar stools from &Tradition and Claretta Bold upholstered chairs from Miniforms, which create an impression of strength and elegance.
The striking Rificolona floor lamp with an impressive lampshade made of recycled material serves as a design element during the day and transforms the space with its warm, muted light in the evening. A playful addition is the colorful composition of Corniche shelves from the Vitra brand, which gracefully replaces the painting above the dining table and allows for more natural greenery in the space. The aforementioned design brands are represented by the arkhe studio, and interested parties can view their furniture in the Karlín showroom.
An important aspect of the interior is the emphasis on practicality and effective use of space. The storage solutions in the apartment are designed to meet various needs – they maintain order and clarity in the wardrobe, and in the guest room, they allow for flexible use of the room thanks to the possibility of folding down the bed. The built-in unit in the children's room is versatile and, with an adjustable table and low open shelves, serves the child from a young age and throughout school years.
Modern technologies such as heat recovery, underfloor heating, and cooling through hidden grills increase energy efficiency and ensure maximum comfort for the life of a young family.
