Vineyard Válkovi is a small family winery in Mělník - an area where winemaking has been developing since the Middle Ages and is characteristic of the local landscape. The Baroque building of the manor - the vineyard estate Turbovice was built for the court councillor and councillor of the chamber court and the Czech court office - knight Jan František Turba of Turba in the first half of the 18th century. The most valuable part of the property is the log press preserved “in situ” in the period fermentation cellar.
However, the winery needed new spaces for its own production and presentation, which found their form in a new building next to the original manor.
Our task was then to breathe character into the wine bistro in the new building.
The large room is designed as a multifunctional space intended for sitting, social events, tastings, and wine sales. The layout is adapted for this purpose, with benches along the walls and several free tables in the middle. The earthy atmosphere is shaped by selected materials - rusty metal, natural wood, concrete plaster, and an industrial floor with a terrazzo appearance. The concrete ceiling is left in its bare variant. The contrasting black on the furniture and equipment brings elegance to the interior, as do the visually striking custom-designed light fixtures. The rooster, which is part of the winery's logo, is depicted as a relief in the concrete plaster, and the textual part of the logo has been carved into a corten steel bar.
