chAta - a cottage in the foreground/background of the forest, which observes, sees, and perceives, does not compete with it, but only allows for its temporally unlimited observation.
The original cottage built in the 1970s has been given a chance to provide recreation, or even housing, with all today's demands and needs. A change in volume was not necessary; the challenge was to integrate all the comforts into a small footprint. One of the bedrooms in the attic was removed to allow for an impressive view from the communal area and from the newly created loft. The kitchen conceals all appliances, while benches and beds provide storage space. The newly built terrace was created in the location of the original one. It extends over 2 levels, integrating a children's playground/sandbox, slide, climbing wall, and also providing enough space for relaxation in nature.
During the reconstruction, all load-bearing elements (rafters, collar ties, column, truss beams) were preserved. The roof covering was also retained, and the staircase to the loft was refurbished. The cellar remained unchanged. The most striking new element became the aluminum facade with green doors and the terrace made of red spruce. The interior is dominated by OSB boards/cladding, built-in wardrobes, and oak (worktops, parquet). The space is heated by a BRUNO storage stove and underfloor electric heating Laminotherm.
The cottage fully seized its opportunity and is now year-round inhabited.
