The proposal for the revitalization of the forecourt of the Dejvice Theatre builds on the modifications of the theatre's entrance areas from 2017.
The original strip of neglected greenery has been transformed into a space for relaxation and gathering, which is used both for the needs of the Theatre Café and for theatre visitors before performances and during intermissions. The existing green strip is expanded at the expense of the sidewalk. Areas of lawn are combined with resting oases featuring
trellises made of gabion nets and benches. Evergreen shrubs (e.g., Scarlet Hawthorn, hornbeam, etc.) are planted in the gabion baskets. These green "walls" serve as a buffer, shielding from the road and its traffic.
In front of these green walls, atypical benches made of solid blocks of exotic wood are placed in some areas.
In this green strip, large granite boulders are also implemented, set into gravel. The gravel areas are separated from the lawn by hot-dip galvanized embedded metal sheets.
The grassy areas of the green strip leading to the entrance of the Dejvice Theatre gradually transition into an area where strips of concrete prefabricates alternate with grassy strips. The green strip is concluded before the entrance to the DD with an area made of the same concrete prefabricates and strips paved with Prague mosaic. This creates a clearly defined space for the Theatre Café's "Garden."
At this location, aligned with the main entrance to the theatre, a new tree—catalpa—has been planted.
In the entire area of the remaining sidewalk, the original paving stones have been replaced with paving made of Prague mosaic in a combination of approximately 80% dark and 20% light colors in the "irregular mélange" finish.
