The name of the House on the Edge is not random; it was determined by the complex terrain. The trapezoidal floor plan not only slopes but also breaks towards the neighboring plot. In the design process, it was necessary to take into account the intricate shape and the drop in terrain to the west.
The basic floor plan in the shape of the letter L consists of two perpendicular volumes. The geometry and situation of the building were adapted not only to the plot itself but also to the view, the line of street development, and the neighboring building. The axis of the ground floor is perpendicular to the axis of the longitudinally oriented building on the adjacent plot, and the facade line of the upper part at the entrance continues the line of the street development. The setback between the volumes serves as a canopy over the entrance. The offset of the lines permeates the entire building and is also expressed in the interior. The minimalist design of the house is enlivened by wooden cladding and flooring.
