Project IdeaThe compact house for a couple and their dogs is situated on the edge of the village on a sunny sloping meadow with beautiful views. Large windows enhance the experience of the surrounding nature from various directions. At the same time, they can be closed with shutters and blinds, turning the house into a fortress. The interior spaces flow freely upwards through two recessed floors, allowing a large south-facing sliding roof window to flood the entire structure with sunlight.
Project DescriptionThe designed family house with a built-up area of 71.13 m² utilizes the slope of the land so that its mass does not disrupt the character of the landscape while meeting the requirements for necessary interior space. The underground floor takes advantage of the varying heights of the terrain to allow for lighting and provide access to the garden.
Given the orientation of the plot, which slopes toward the northeast and the surrounding wooded area, the family house was positioned in the lower part of the lot, approximately at the site of the original demolished house. This location ensures optimal lighting and sunlight while also being the most suitable position with regard to the protective zone of the forest.
The proposed construction of the family house is designed with a rectangular floor plan. The internal space of the house is generously elevated, connecting the ground floor through the second floor to the attic, creating two galleries. The main entrance to the structure and the main living area, which continues to the terrace, are located on the ground floor. The bedroom level with an office and bathroom is located on the first gallery, while the attic primarily serves as a playroom on the second gallery.
The basement level is separated. It contains a sauna and a guest space and offers access to the garden either from the staircase area or through a French door directly from the bathroom and sauna area.
The entrance area, stairs to the basement, and the basement have a floor made of poured terrazzo, while all main living areas of the house have wooden floors – oak.
Another structure for garden storage and a garage serves as an auxiliary building to the family house. This building has a purely functional character.
