Half house in Lednické Rovne

Low budget, narrow plot, and a full-fledged four-room family house on it. "The Half House" is in the shape of half a house with a gabled roof. The client's requirement was to design a compact house that would be heated by a Finnish stove. The plot had to remain passable for cars even after construction. Last but not least, the house was to be bright and airy with open spaces, views of the surrounding greenery, and a distinctive character. The result is a home for a young family of four.
The newly built family house is located in the village of Lednické Rovne - Horenická Hôrka. The key criteria that influenced the construction were the low budget and the narrow plot, which had to remain accessible all the way to the garden.
The shape of the house is derived from the surrounding rural development with a gabled roof. "We virtually cut a typical family house in half and dimensioned a four-room apartment with a kitchen and pantry within the house," says architect Ivana Lašan.
The Half House has two terraces. The front covered terrace is connected to the kitchen. The back terrace faces the garden.
The living area of the house is located on the ground floor. The living room, dining room, study, and kitchen are part of one space, which is followed by a dominant steel staircase leading to the upper floor. Because the living space is open across both floors, a Finnish stove is sufficient to heat the house. The central area of the house is airy and bright.
In the night area on the upper floor, there is a bedroom for the parents with a separate wardrobe, a child's room - where in the future a sleeping platform will be added, and a shared bathroom. All windows in the rooms face southeast. The rich greenery of fruit trees on the neighboring plot creates privacy and shade during hot summer days.
