Playground framed by the architecture of the legend
Le Corbusier on one side and the Chinese wall on the other. Directly on the southeast outskirts of the city of Zurich. It connects to the promenade around Lake Zurich, which adds a special atmosphere to the place. The playground is designed to stimulate all senses through play elements – for both children and adults.
The playground is isolated from the adjacent road by a screen of tall greenery and a concrete wall, which enhances the quality of the stay at the playground. The wall is also equipped with grips on the playground side and serves as a climbing element. The central space is divided into two levels – in the upper part, there is a slightly elevated paved area, complemented by furniture in the form of wooden loungers. It offers a view of the entire playground and the opposite shore across the lake.
The surface of the lower playground resembles a sandy beach. The play elements are suspended around the perimeter of this beach on a massive metal structure that frames various arrangements of modular elements – swings, slides, climbing frames, or other hanging toys. This arrangement creates a large open space inside for various uses.
The atmosphere of the space is enhanced by freely distributed trees – in the upper part, multi-trunk maples, whose silhouettes cast dramatic shadows on the concrete wall. The part of the playground closer to the lake consists of a regular grid of maples (
Acer platanoides – Norway maple).
In the playground area, there is also a water playground with automated water jets. This is followed by a sandbox with large built-in boulders that serve as climbing elements.
The entire playground is enclosed, there is a no-dog policy, and it is locked at night.
