Interior of MCA Office

Interior of MCA Office
Address: Dykova 1, Vinohrady, Prague, Czech Republic
Completion:2000

In the ground floor of the functionalist building designed by architect Pavel Janák, an architectural office was established after the renovation of the building. The interior features typical original elements of functionalist architecture, among which the most prominent is the grid of square windows in reinforced concrete frames with exposed surfaces of visible concrete both in the exterior and the interior. The area with windows that had been bricked up during earlier construction modifications was uncovered as part of the current renovation, and the reinforced concrete frames were cleaned so that the original structure and color could be showcased. By removing some partitions, a long, narrow space was created, divided by glazed doors. The longitudinal composition is emphasized by rows of long shelves, hidden behind sliding wooden partitions. The sanitary facilities are designed with a glass pool gray mosaic, creating a surface that gives the impression of an irregular structure, closely resembling the raw appearance of exposed concrete.
