Interior of the Tourist Information Center of the city of Brno
The tourist information center is located in the newly built parking garage Dominipark. The building is situated in the central historical part of the city, next to the town hall, the Museum of Applied Arts, and a large-capacity hotel.
The inspiration and starting theme for the interior design was a simple wooden poster fence.
The design of the material solution for the building is thus executed with regard to the distinctive and dignified function of the building, while choosing surfaces and materials that do not convey excessive exclusivity and correspond to the civil, urban character of the location. The TIC space has two entrances in the ground floor corner part of the parking garage, one from Panenská Street and the other from Husova Street.
The interior walls of the main visitor space are lined with spruce boards arranged vertically to the full height of the space. Posters for cultural events in the city and surrounding area are attached to these boards. In the wooden paneling of the walls, there are four hidden doors to the background facilities. The background of the operation includes a kitchenette, operational room, storage, and hygiene facilities. Its walls are finished with white plaster or ceramic tiles, and the built-in furniture is made from white laminated boards, complemented by typical pieces of furniture.
In the main visitor space, there are furniture elements - a counter with a back counter, benches/display cases, tables, a tablet stand, shelves, and an LCD screen. The counter with the niche back counter is clad with panels of white crystalline glass, and the tables are white lacquered with stainless steel bases. The benches are made from materials similar to the wall cladding - from spruce boards, complemented by a glass lighted display case for showcasing souvenirs and small items from the TIC. The floor of the main area is made of poured dark gray terrazzo. The main visitor area has a clear height of 4.5 m, the ceiling is fitted with a smooth white full drywall ceiling, and the lighting is provided by fluorescent fixtures arranged in a square grid.
