Recently, the new wing of the OC Chodov shopping center in Prague was ceremoniously opened. This establishment focuses on luxury shops and boutiques. Frisör Klier opened a brand new branch here, setting a new standard for hair salons and moving it closer to a discerning clientele.

Compared to regular branches, this new one is custom-made, emphasizing not only quality services and top-notch hair care products from brands like Paul Mitchell and Kérastase but also design. The design was entrusted to the proven duo VRTIŠKA & ŽÁK.

The showroom immediately catches the eye with its minimalist approach and simple color scheme. As you pass by, you notice the black-and-white space accented by a copper counter and shelves. Upon closer inspection, you will find that the linear vertical elements are actually chains hanging from the ceiling around the perimeter of the salon, creating the impression of a constantly pulsing place.

The intention was to build a salon that blends aesthetically with the newly opened part of the shopping center. A salon that is not gender-specific, a minimalist yet cozy salon, a salon that meets the trends of today, including an open and clear entrance space while still maintaining the privacy of the customer.

The organic walls of the salon are covered with black chains that resemble strands of hair; if these chains were connected, they would measure a total of 8 kilometers! “The chains are a direct reminiscence of hair, as it is the main medium we work with here. We designed the entire space in neutral tones so that it does not affect the color perception of new hairstyles and colors. We also tailored the lighting tonalities to this theme. The only significant accent in the otherwise black-and-white space is the use of copper elements, such as shelves, reception, and fittings for built-in wardrobes. The work surfaces at the reception and hair stations are made of solid oak, which provides a warming contrast to the copper and is a pleasant material in terms of haptics,” says designer Roman Vrtiška.
“We enjoy working creatively with ordinary items and materials. In the case of Color Lounge, we focused on the chains. They actually behave very much like hair. A subtle detail in the fittings of the sliding wardrobes clearly demonstrates this.
When you open them, you create a sort of fringe or parting. These are exactly the details that we consider to be quite important,” explains the second half of the duo – Vladimír Žák.

The new Color Lounge by Klier was opened to mark the 20th anniversary of the company's presence in the Czech market!
