LocationFarská humna or "Farčata" is the local name for a historically undeveloped area between Veselská street and Sázava. Until the mid-20th century, the city ended at Farské humny. In the 1950s, a development project was proposed here. This plan was never realized. The space remained unused until the beginning of the 21st century. Subsequently, a park was built in this area.
FootbridgeThe footbridge is part of a broader project "Development of Cycling Paths in Žďár nad Sázavou and Surroundings" and the revitalization of the Farská humna park. The cycle path is diverted from road I/19 by the footbridge, allowing the Stalingrad district to connect to the city center without the need to cross the busy first-class road. The footbridge connects both banks at the intersection of the park path from Veselská street on the left bank and Žižková street on the right bank. It is aligned directly in both the floor plan and longitudinal section. Stairs are proposed at the abutments leading to the river, enabling direct contact with the water.
ConstructionThe supporting system consists of steel I profiles 45 cm high combined with a reinforced concrete slab. The structure is anchored on both banks. The beams will be treated with black powder coating. The reinforced concrete slab will be equipped with direct access insulation. The footbridge will be bordered on both sides with a railing made of wooden planks, anchored from the outer side of the footbridge.
The final appearance of the footbridge is the work of architects from the Refuel studio as part of a comprehensive study for the reconstruction of bridges over the Sázava while performing the role of city architect of Žďár nad Sázavou. The city architect is obligated to consider the urban-architectural development of the city and to actively prepare and process the terms of reference for construction projects. In this case, the architectural study served as the assignment and basis for the public commercial competition.
