The footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists, completed in 2013-2014, spans a gorge approximately 4-5 meters deep of the stream flowing along Husova Street in Zdice, in the Beroun region. The footbridge completes a natural connection between the city center and Petra Bezruče Street and the popular forest park on the nearby hill of Knihov at the edge of the city. At the top of the forest park, a
viewing tower was also designed (as of yet unrealized).
The footbridge is conceived as a spatial wooden structure made of glued wooden beams with steel joints and a wooden deck. On both sides, the deck is seated into bases made of monolithic concrete, shaped as a natural continuation of the footbridge structure. The external spatial truss beam supports the deck, which is formed by a steel frame concealed within the wooden cladding. The raised sides of the deck conceal linear lighting for the walkable surface of the deck. The footbridge is also illuminated from the steel joints at the lower edge of the main beam.
The footbridge is accessible in a barrier-free manner.
