Dressed or undressed, shod or unshod. Over a thousand interwoven oak sleepers, connected by steel rods, define a place at the interface of the city and countryside. A grassy gentle slope facing south at the edge of a small oak grove. A few meters above the Ohře River, which flows quietly in a recessed valley, the Doupov Mountains rise steeply behind it. A little higher on the foothills of the Holy Mountain, a medieval monastery of the mendicant order of Franciscans is spread over an indistinct terrain spur. Here is a place where time flows a little slower. People have come here from the nearby town of Kadaň since ancient times to rest, breathe, have fun, and spend time in nature. The oak fence made of massive sleepers delineates an oval space for 300 seated spectators, who do not stop perceiving the nearby riverside, the adjacent grove, the monastery behind them, and the sky above. The enclosure is transparent all around, allowing the performance to be glimpsed from the outside. Like a basket in the grass, the structure is set on a granite terrace, forming no barrier in the passage from the city to the monastery park. The open summer stage AmFík was built on the site of a dilapidated summer cinema as part of a project for gradual revitalization of the Kadaň riverside along the Ohře River, based on the concept of architect Vít Branda. The AmFík structure serves for cultural performances in the open air. All constructions are executed through dry assembly, fully and cheaply recyclable. The auditorium takes advantage of the natural terrain configuration, and in the stage area, a low permanent podium is installed, while a special stage can also be built here. Part of the technical equipment is an open sound and lighting ramp at the upper end of the auditorium, connected to the stage area via an underground channel for media. LED directional lights are embedded in the sleepers of the central staircase. The structure does not contain any other permanent facilities; this is addressed during the season in an attached caravan.
