Level Apartment
Andrej Gregoric, Janez Martincic, Janja Del Linz, Will Gibson, Estefania Lopez Tornay, Nika Zufic:
Address: Cigaletova ulica, Ljubljana, Slovenia
Project:2011
Completion:2012
Area:115 m2

The reconstructed apartment is located in a five-story residential city building designed in the Art Nouveau style by architect C.M. Koch in 1902. The apartment has a view of Miklošičevo Park, which is almost in the center of the picturesque capital of Slovenia.
The original apartment was compacted by knocking down several partitions, improving operational organization, and incorporating built-in elements with a minimalist clean detail. The dominant living room, occupying almost half of the apartment's layout, is connected to the space of a separate studio and kitchen. The other half of the layout consists of an entrance area, directly linked to a spacious bathroom with a dressing room and a transition to the bedroom, which is again connected to the living room. The hierarchy of this closed cycle is supported by built-in three-step podiums, into which the individual furnishings of the apartment are integrated. Respectfully considering the quality of the original design, all original components of the apartment (doors and windows) have been sensitively restored.
The apartment, with its composition of individual spaces and transparent play, creates an impression with a touch of mystical tuning, as if drawing inspiration from the now-nonexistent "experiment" of the Pharmacy restaurant in London's Notting Hill by Mike Rundell and Damien Hirst and his formaldehyde sharks.
