Loft Vinohrady

Loft Vinohrady
The basic concept of the loft apartment in the old development of Prague's Vinohrady lies in creating a high airy space in the lower part with a hall, kitchen, and living room, from which there is access to a terrace with a view of the Žižkov Tower and Vítkov, and conversely a quiet and cozy upper floor with a bedroom and bathroom. The spaces communicate with each other through an inserted staircase, which along with the adjoining podium forms a distinctive wooden element of the lower living area. The podium is very functionally designed. It acts as an entry step to the terrace and has a custom-built seating area, which can also serve as a classic bed. The entire lower part is unified by light tiles. The kitchen area is also designed practically with worktops made of hardened artificial stone. The planks of the massive oak table were personally selected by us even before its actual production. A distinctive element of the lower level is also the niche with a library, one shelf of which can also serve as a working tabletop.
The dark wood of the staircase smoothly transitions into the upper floor's flooring, contrasting with the concrete coating of the central wall with the fireplace and the light cladding of the built-in walls with storage spaces. At the end, the staircase brings sunlight through a small skylight. The podium element is repeated on the upper floor, where a bed is incorporated, and the part under the large skylight serves, for example, as a reading nook. Behind the doors integrated into the wooden wall is a bathroom with dark stone cladding and another skylight.
The apartment's space is also characterized by atypically designed elements, which can be found in the sliding doors separating the hall or the stainless steel handles of the cabinets with a delicate detail of a milled groove. The interior is complemented by works of art by prominent Czech painters, especially the striking abstract painting by Evžen Šimera.
