The building of the kindergarten in Holýšov was originally constructed as the new Masaryk school building. The construction of the school began on September 16, 1928, and it was ceremonially opened on September 15, 1929. Thus, Holýšov gained its first Czech school in the functionalist style, which was typical for educational institutions of the time. The building served as a Czech school until 1938, after which it was used as a German school. During World War II, the building was remodeled and acquired the characteristic appearance of traditional German architecture with a hipped roof with a steep slope. The school gradually aged, and its reconstruction became necessary. During negotiations, we managed to convince the city leadership to restore the school's "original" functionalist appearance, along with the historical inscription on the facade. The main argument was the unused attic, the disproportionate appearance of the building, and the large volume of the building in relation to the surrounding area, which is predominantly built up with family houses.
