Conflicting feelings can be experienced when viewing the kindergarten in the 13th district of Vienna. Adolf Krischanitz carried out the reconstruction of the existing building and added new spaces for the kindergarten serving the Russian-Jewish community. The very pleasant compositional and proportional play of volumes comes across somewhat dull in light of the current operation of the kindergarten. The main entrance has actually been removed, and entry to the kindergarten is made through the garden on the other side of the building. The overall color scheme of the entire building is also very strange. The gray-black particularly strikes laypeople. A specialist gradually understands the architect's spatial intentions; however, the current state of the building and the overall surrounding situation fills them with skepticism. Nevertheless, the volumetric composition of this kindergarten has something to it.
In choosing colors and materials, Swiss painter Helmut Federle assisted, who helped
H&deM design the
Goetz Gallery in Munich.
