<Museum of Television & Radio>
Architect: Richard Meier
Address: 456 Little Santa Monica Boulevard, Beverly Hills, USA
Completion:1994-1996

"This project was designed during a weekend session. The client invited several architects to participate in a 48-hour weekend design competition. Michael Palladin, my partner, and I sat together in our office in LA, analyzed the program and site, and then we drew it. The museum had a limited budget and timeline, so we designed it quickly. In fact, the design we drew that weekend is the same as what was built."
Richard Meier

The Museum of Television and Radio stands in Beverly Hills at the corner of North Beverly Drive and Little Santa Monica Boulevard. This two-story building, open to the street, is the result of the renovation and expansion of the existing structure. The main volume, which is the cylindrical entrance hall, serves as the symbolic center of the museum. The entrance is set back from the property line, creating a threshold for greater architectural freedom in design. The central circular hall allows direct access to the galleries, a 150-seat theater, and a radio studio. The information desk, gift shop, and a multifunctional classroom are located on the ground floor. Visitors proceeding to the second floor use the gentle ramps, which are integrated as a distinct volume to the rotunda, and they can explore both the exhibition spaces and enjoy views of street life through the glazed façade. The less publicly used spaces with a garden are located on the third floor, accessible by elevator or a staircase winding through the inside of the rotunda.
