One of the few larger realizations in which the father of modern architecture Adolf Loos could present his timeless thinking about architecture stands in the center of Vienna on Michaelerplatz, directly opposite the Hofburg, the government center of the then Austro-Hungarian monarchy. In 1908, Loos published his essay Ornament and Crime. The main dogmas presented in this work were solidified in the commercial building for the tailoring company Goldman & Salatsch.
