Multifunctional House Erwin

The multifunctional building Erwin was constructed on a corner infill site in close proximity to the Pražské povstání metro station. The building has 2 underground and 9 above-ground floors, with the last floor being set back.

The building fills an empty parcel and highlights the corner with a connection to the surrounding structures. The corner on the 3rd to 6th floors corresponds to the height of the opposite building on Dačického street. The height of the 8th floor adapts to the height of the neighboring panel building.

The facade is made of titanium-zinc panels, which are punctuated by horizontal bands of window openings interspersed with plastered infill between the windows. The plastered parts are fashioned in an unconventional way from today’s perspective, yet quite common from a historical viewpoint. It consists of a vertically profiled surface, with the surface forming waves approximately 7 mm in height.
The first underground floor is designed to cover the entire area of the courtyard, and its roof is designed as a green space combined with paved areas. This ensures a view from the apartments into tranquility and greenery.

The pedestrian entrance is from Kischova street, while the access to the basement parking garage is from Dačického street.

The ground floor of the building houses commercial space. The upper floors contain apartments. The underground floors have parking spaces for the needs of the building, with a small reserve. The building consists of 31 residential units ranging from 1 to 4 rooms, 1 studio, 2 commercial spaces, and 44 parking spots.

The individual floors are vertically connected by a central elevator. From the spatially comfortable corridors, there are entrances to the apartments themselves. The last recessed floor features one large apartment with a terrace. The living rooms of the individual apartments are oriented southeast to southwest, ensuring adequate sunlight. The bedroom areas of the apartments face the peaceful courtyard with green space landscaping.
