Red Pif continues differently and in a different place.
Distinctive spaces in a 19th-century building in the Old Town on a quiet side street have been replaced by a rentable space on the ground floor of an office building in one of the busiest spots in Prague. The universally glazed skeleton around the perimeter is itself a framework into which anything can be inserted at any time: that’s the intention, after all. Our new interior is therefore to some extent an installation – transience is as deliberately contained here as richness, contrasting with the stark framework of the structure.
The pub is supposed to have its atmosphere, its... scenography. Considering the place (and concept), we wanted the interior to possess something of the urban promenade as well as of a classic pub. Something between Café Imperial and Selska Jizba – after all, the head chef appreciates the cuisine of Austria-Hungary and the First Republic – in a stylized, fractal form: because it is also Anděl, a place where the hustle and circus of life continuously and daily unfolds.
Combinatorial tectonics, simple details, simply processed and assembled spruce wood, which gradually changes color and patinas. The principle of the showcase as one large logo of the establishment. The atmosphere is enhanced by original lights designed specifically for the space by Rony Plesl and installations by Petr Písařík.
The space has two floors and about 150 seats. Therefore, we wanted it to offer more moods and situations at this size: the ground floor directly from the street is for working lunches, meetings during the day, and something "to stand and have" on the way home from work. The upper floor is more intimate: dinners, gatherings with friends... we added a corner for regulars, a lounge. Everything also intermingles, spaces transition from one to another and are not separated: depending on the mood, everyone can choose where to sit or stand...
