Today's museum was established from the original textile factory, which was founded here in 1838 by Swiss entrepreneur Mikuláš Vonwiller. Textile production managed to remain here until 2007.

The original Neoclassical building with mansard roofs significantly changed its appearance over time. The look was influenced by a devastating fire in 1906, after which the mansard roofs were replaced with flat roofs. In 1911, the original premises were expanded with a four-story skeleton extension, which is one of the oldest preserved reinforced concrete structures in our country. Gradually, the courtyard of the complex was further developed, mainly with insensitive extensions in the latter half of the twentieth century. Additionally, over time, the complex began to deteriorate rapidly.

Since 2010, it has been gradually adapted into the Museum of Old Machines and Technologies, also serving as an important cultural center of the city.

The museum presents historical technology from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. In addition to functional steam engines, there are collections of cars, motorcycles, and of course, textile machines. A rarity is the fully functional historical transmission machine room, as well as the narrow-gauge factory track, including a small depot visually connected to the café. Due to its attractive content, this place is often sought after by filmmakers.

The goal of the reconstruction was primarily to save the interesting architectural spaces, free them from the insensitivity of previous decades, open the courtyard to visitors, and create a pleasant space for staying. A partial opening of the drive passing through the area was also appropriate, which helps improve the climate, especially in summer.

The regular open house days have become legendary, attracting several thousand visitors. Among the cultural events, concerts are noteworthy, as well as balls, and the place is sought for holding weddings, for example.
