The entire Sacre Coeur project, consisting of several phases, is located on the southern slope below the residential district of Hřebenka, between Holečkova–Grafická streets and Kinský Garden and Sacre Coeur Park.
An integral part of the urban complex, in addition to two residential blocks and the completion of two corner infills with smaller apartment buildings, is also the complex of a senior citizen's home, which, through its smaller scale, facilitates a smooth transition to Sacre Coeur Park.
RSC2... it is actually housing in a bridge and can remind one of Florence's Ponte Vecchio – in this case, it overcomes the invisible obstacle of an underground tunnel. We are working with a plot that has great neighbors – the Smíchov Sacre Coeur Park, St. Gabriel's Monastery, and the Kinský Garden, and we are also positioned above the Strahov Tunnel with panoramic views of Prague.
By using residential arms, we cross over the tunnel and thus rehabilitate the urban block in the city center, which was partially demolished in the past due to the tunnel. And all this right next to our similar project RSC 1, where people have already been living above the tunnel for several years. Here, a key element is also the open ground level with a colonnade along the eastern facade, which connects the green inner courtyard with the adjacent park and highlights the "jagged" facade created by cantilevered bay windows directed towards the sunny valley of Smíchov.
By stepping back the block from the street line in front of the neo-Romanesque monastery, we complement the public space of the new park with a square area with shops and a bus stop.
A bridge structure runs through the interior of the building and naturally defines the spatial arrangement of the house, offering the possibility of atypical loft-style living. The architecture of the roof consists of five separate penthouses that, with their articulated shapes, harmoniously respond to the scale of neighboring buildings while providing plenty of privacy for their residents.
Parking spaces and basements are located beneath the entire structure and, as the only parts of the block, rest on the ceiling of the tunnel, which slopes down towards the surrounding terrain. The single-story garage space thus cascades to follow the given slope, creating spatially interesting terraces where cars rest.
