Assignment
- construction of a family house for a family of four
Architecture - The house is located in Chlumec nad Cidlinou, a town known for the peasant uprisings at the end of the 18th century, the uprising of the peasants. Although the armed conflicts themselves were not successful, they essentially led to the abolition of serfdom. The investor is named Sedlák and I worked from the beginning with the connection of the theme of the family house and the motif of a typical farmstead, a homestead for a peasant and a historical reference.

The plot is situated on an elevation opposite the Karlova Koruna castle. This is an unmistakable inspiration in itself. For its construction, Count František Ferdinand Kinský invited outstanding artists of his time, the Czech architect of Italian origin Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel and the Prague builder František Maximilián Kaňka. This resulted in a picturesque Baroque gem with a central composition and ideal placement in the landscape. The castle becomes the main motif of the view from the living space and is reflected in the final design of the house. In a way, the house is a paraphrase of the opposite castle, a crown and a blooming flower with an emphasis on preserving the character of a peasant dwelling.
