The family house, located in the village of Pec near Domažlice, allows its owner, a successful athlete and former representative of the Czech Republic in marathon and half-marathon, to fulfill his dream of living close to the Czech Forest. Initially, he considered buying a house in the historical part of Domažlice, but ultimately nature and views of the picturesque landscape prevailed.
The plot on which the building stands was purchased in parts, in agreement with the architect. Gradually, he managed to buy three adjacent plots, increasing the area to nearly 2,000 m².
The architect Václav Zahradníček was given a free hand by the investor. His wish was to see the nearby hill Čerchov from the dining table, a wooden facade, a high space in the living room, and a bathroom positioned in the ground floor bedroom.
The plot is located at the northern edge of the village construction. The surroundings feature open building development with integrated greenery. The designed house is positioned to enable beautiful views of the landscape, particularly towards the nearby Čerchov hill.
The simple rectangular building (8 x 12 m) with a gabled roof is oriented with both gables towards the views of the landscape (to the north and south). The dominant element of the entire composition becomes a black dormer with colored linings, located on the western facade of the house. Another interesting element is a narrow longitudinal window that cuts across the entire eastern facade from the entrance door through the corner to the southern facade.
The house is entered through a spacious vestibule, from which the main open hallway leads to the living space on the left and the sleeping area on the right. The living space opens to the garden through a large southern terrace. On the upper floor, there are two children's rooms, a bathroom, and an open gallery for various uses.
A significant element of the interior is the wooden ledge bench around the dining table, which extends up to the southern facade. To close off and create greater intimacy for the garden living area between the terrace and the road, a soil embankment was created along the southern edge of the plot from soil removed during site modifications and construction work.
