The apartment is located in the Smíchov Neugraf project, a modern urban building with industrial elements that refer to the historical printing house on Grafická Street. The house showcases its industrial character with large areas of concrete, dark windows, a simple gray facade, and metal elements. The appearance of the building is harsh, and the feeling is almost unwelcoming, yet visually clean and timeless. The Smíchov district, with its modern office buildings, pulses with surrounding infrastructure and a fast-paced life, does not contribute to a sense of coziness.

Our task was to create a pleasant, tranquil space with natural materials, a welcoming home environment. The view from the large French windows overlooks the rooftops and facades of old apartment buildings, trees, and the sky, providing a relaxing perspective away from the daily hustle and bustle of the streets. For investors who love proper hikes in nature, the apartment is a non-cottage in the metropolis. The concept of Smíchov's NON-cottage is reflected in the choice of materials and principles inspired by a pleasant cottage stay.

We respond to the industrial character of the building with lightness and delicacy. The floor and ceiling of the apartment are defined by wood. Other elements are kept minimalist in white, black, and light gray. Wood adds a warm coziness to the minimalism. Natural materials are applied in their rawer form. The stone slab is left split at the edges, the ceramic lights handmade specifically for this project are perfectly imperfect, and the earthen plaster is structured and speckled. The natural framework is complemented by subtle black elements such as a metal bookshelf, a chandelier, and handles.
