BMX is an Olympic racing cycling sport, conducted on a special track. Its popularity is currently rising. The Bohnice track is one of the oldest in Prague; until recently, it did not meet the standards of the international federation UCI.
The new starting ramp with a launch height of 5 m is a multipurpose structure — its sloped roof serves as the starting area for races, and underneath it is the athletes' facility — locker rooms, restrooms, storage, a buffet, and a clubroom. The height profile of the roof determines the usability of the interior space.
It is a lightweight prefabricated steel structure, clad on three sides with polycarbonate multi-wall panels. It will be used only seasonally, so it is not heated. Cyclists use the inclined boarding mesh ramp on their way up to the start.
The construction also included a grandstand for spectators, utilizing the adjacent embankment created during the construction of the housing estate, a paved service path, and a site lighting system.
