The last of the series of evenings on the topic of architecture titled Svitavy and Their Future will take place at the Svitavy Tyjátr on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at 6:30 PM. The three preceding evenings on the topic of architecture progressively focused on quality architecture in Svitavy's modern history, subsequently the relationship between the city and architecture, and finally ecology and the principles of minimalism not only in architecture. The fourth continuation aims to conclude the series of thematic evenings and has set itself the ambitious goal of discussing our city and its future in terms of further approaches to urban and architectural solutions. Solutions that exist and can be applied in cities comparable to Svitavy. Two prominent figures of Czech architecture have accepted the invitation for this evening. The first guest will be Svitavy native architect Petr Stolín, who is a fresh laureate of the Czech Architecture Award. Among other things, Petr Stolín is the author of the successful design for the reconstruction of the Café in the Park. The second guest of the evening will be architect and urban planner Osamu Okamura, the dean of the Faculty of Arts and Architecture at the Technical University of Liberec. Osamu Okamura contemplates urbanism and architecture deeply, perceiving the influence of these fields on social issues and on the relationships between the people who live in the given environment. Both guests are not only architects but also educators and know how to speak engagingly about architecture and its impacts. They may also attempt to outline the foundations for a new approach to urban and architectural planning in our city so that we all feel better in it, identify with the city as citizens, and prefer to live in it. The evening will be hosted by Lukáš Brýdl from the civic initiative Svitavy 2040. Admission is voluntary.
