Biography
1985 - graduated in architecture from the university in Graz, Austria, and in the same year became a co-founder of the first Norwegian architectural gallery, ROM
1987 - co-founded the multidisciplinary architectural office Snøhetta, of which he has been a partner since 1989
2004-08 - served as a professor of architecture at the Institute of Experimental Architecture at the university in Innsbruck, Austria
He has received numerous awards with the Snøhetta studio and independently: Mies van der Rohe Prize - for the Opera and Ballet building in Oslo in 2009; Aga Khan Award for Architecture - for the Library of Alexandria in 2004; Commander of The Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 2008; honorary membership in RIBA; honorary doctorate from NTNU and honorary membership in the Norwegian Association of Architects (NAL) in 2011.
