Address: letiště Praha Ruzyně, Terminál Sever 2, neveřejná část příletové haly, Ruzyně, Prague, Czech Republic
Project:12/2006
Completion:02/2007

The project addresses the design of a prototype spatial sales booth. The booth is conceived as a freestanding structure intended for installation in the interior of an airport terminal. It consists of three sales walls arranged in a "U" shape, facing inward. The fourth - entrance wall is closed off by a security roller shutter. The sales walls are divided into individual sections - display cases - spanning the full height of the booth. The goods are displayed on adjustable fully glass shelves. Each display case is closed at the top with a backlit advertising panel. The first shelf just above the floor (bottom of the display case) can be used for storing stock of the goods for sale. In the position next to one of the side walls, a sales counter is freely placed in the space, complemented by a protruding base which delineates the area for the seller and simultaneously conceals the cable connections to the sales counter.

Construction and material solution of the booth
The booth is designed as a kit - meaning that its assembly on-site is carried out by assembling prepared parts and it can be disassembled and relocated to another place at any time without damaging the components. Principally, the booth consists of a frame structure made of steel parts - a base, uprights, and the ceiling of the display cases. Around the booth, the back walls of the display cases are closed off with sheets of matte plexiglass. In the corners of the booth, illuminated pillars are created for placing external advertising. The corners are covered with two sheets of pre-shaped clear plexiglass, between which a translucent film with a printed advertising motif will be inserted. Between the uprights of the display cases, shelves made of clear tempered glass panels are inserted for displaying goods. For the shelves, pockets are prepared in the side panels of the uprights allowing for easy vertical adjustment of the shelves. At the top of each display case, an advertising panel is suspended consisting of two plexiglass sheets, between which a translucent film with a printed advertising motif will be inserted. The panel is illuminated from the back by a set of fluorescent fixtures mounted on the ceiling of the display case. The sales counter, like the other structural components, is made of a steel structure clad in sheet metal. To define the area of the booth, the existing floor of the airport terminal (stone pavement) is covered with its own flooring made of Noraplan rubber strips.
