Anděl City, a new urban complex to the south of Plzeňská Street, continues to build southward. A new street named Englišova is being created as an extension of Bozděchova, at the corner with Stroupežnického Street stands the Anděl City building, Object 9 - Pfizer Headquarters.
The compact, transparent, slab-like construction with layered façades is complemented by a trio of blue geometric bodies. Tension is concentrated in a narrow slit between it and the adjacent building. The slit leads to a garden, which serves as the project's centerpiece.
The entrance to the building is via a blue prism-shaped vestibule from Stroupežnického Street, embedded into a two-story entrance hall. This is followed by an opening narrow space “vertical garden” that extends across seven floors, topped by a skylight. On the ground floor and the first floor, there is a conference and training center and a two-story café with a kitchen that serves meals for employees. The office floors are perforated with openings and stairways that provide spatial and communication connections. The last recessed floor is surrounded by wooden terraces and a garden with tall grass “Miscanthus”.
The façade does not pretend to be something it is not inside. Strip windows with low sills in the office module are only interrupted by a large window spanning two floors behind which is a high space. The façade has a double-layered skin. In front of the aluminum façade with opening windows is a forest of vertical guiding rails for shading blinds, on which sandblasted glasses are mounted at the level of the sill strips, covering the blinds when rolled up.
The blue corporate color is expressed on the façade by a trio of elements. The vestibule entrance has been dubbed the "blue box." As a bookmark between the buildings, there is an 18 m high billboard with the company logo. In contrast, a horizontal line is formed by the dining room balcony on the first floor.
The building's structural system is a reinforced concrete skeleton based on a foundation slab. The ceilings are made of flat slabs without beams. The column module in the inner field is 8.1 x 8.0 m, and the structural height of the floors is 3.62 m.
The garden continues the system of green “moss” hills from the first phase of Anděl City, which allow for the planting of trees in a substrate thickness of up to 1.6 m. The private character is expressed by wooden terraces and a large water surface finished with Corten scales, separating the private garden from the public part of the courtyard.
As part of the building, the first section of the new Englišova Street has been completed, featuring uniform granite pavement for both the roadway and sidewalks with steel details for the curbs and edges. Ginkgo biloba trees will complement the corporate blue with their distinctive yellow in the autumn.
