Apartment Riverpark

Apartment Riverpark
Address: Bratislava, Slovakia
Project:2012
Completion:2013

The client that every good architect would wish for has once again approached us to express our opinion on his latest project - an apartment in Riverpark. The space was originally in the form of a raw space without limiting load-bearing walls and partitions; media outlets were provided, as was the location of the entrance door. We opened up the proposed layout by the developer as much as possible and trimmed it down to include as much "open air" as possible.

The concept is built on inserted walls that delineate individual spaces. The wall of the living area, which also serves as the bedroom's wardrobe, the wall as the kitchen furniture, the wall hiding the utility area, and the wall visually separating the bedroom and bathroom. The walls are clad from head to toe in natural matte wood. In the originally considered layout, the underestimated columns are brought to the foreground as significant players in the composition of the interior with their raw exposed concrete. For those in the know, it will not be surprising that the columns needed to be stripped of their plaster...

The living area follows a proven principle, wherein the kitchen is part of it, and is as closed as possible into clean cubic forms of the island and the aforementioned wall. The bedroom includes a generous bathroom with a solitary bathtub/shower set.

The edge of the ceiling responds to the position of the walls in the space and is finished in a line almost parallel to the glazed facade; this change in level also cleverly conceals the outlets for the air conditioning technology.

The entire apartment is richly illuminated by the fully glazed facade, which is bordered by an extensive adjoining terrace. The western sun almost daily offers a fascinating spectacle with an unobstructed view of the Danube, the forests of Petržalka, and the nearby hills in neighboring Austria.

The chosen materials, furniture, lighting, and artworks harmoniously complete this exceptional whole.
