Chleba Brno is a bakery that takes bread seriously. The opening of the second branch right in the historic center of Brno on Starobrněnská Street was not just an expansion of operations but an opportunity to create a space that is as authentic as the city itself.
A place where one can buy a loaf, take a moment to stop, have a coffee, and become part of the city's happenings.

For most of the year, the store opens physically and symbolically to the street. The double-winged doors become a place to sit, a transition between the interior and the city. Customers with a kanellbullar in hand (cinnamon, highly addictive sweet pastry) watch the hustle and bustle of the center of Brno - a city that is a bit Berlin, a bit Moravian Manchester, and above all, a city for coffee geeks. A city that is said to be a joke. Perhaps it is, but a joke in which one lives well.

The originally fragmented space has been radically opened up. By removing walls, a generous raised interior has emerged, whose proportions subtly reference a small sacred space. Bread here becomes an object of attention, almost a ritual object. The centerpiece of the rectangular layout is a centrally located sales counter made from three 200-kilogram granite blocks resting on massive wooden beams. Heavy, calm, elemental. Along one entire wall, stainless steel shelves stretch exclusively designed for presenting bread.

At the back of the space, along the axis of the entrance, there is a smaller bar with coffee and drinks. It is clad in small-format tiles measuring 10 x 10 cm, which flow onto the bar wall as well. The gentle rhythm of the cladding contrasts with the large-format stone flooring, which unifies the entire floor area and underscores the character of the space. The entire concept is pleasantly complemented by earthen plaster, into which buckwheat husks have been mixed.

And because JUNG architects like to work with moments of surprise in their realizations, they consciously "broke" the austere work with natural materials. A wild striped burgundy curtain and ambient lighting introduce tension, emotion, and a slight provocation into the interior. They intentionally omitted a central ceiling light so that nothing distracts attention from the stone counter, the bread itself, and the simple everyday ritual taking place here.

The interior of Chleba Brno is honest, raw, and playful at the same time. Just like the city in which it was created.
