Bochner Palace

Bochner Palace
The Neo-Renaissance palace of brothers Theodor and Edmund Bochner was built in Brno between 1864 and 1867 by the Austrian builder Josef Arnold. It served as an administrative building for the adjacent factory now known as Vlněna. The palace impresses with the expansive backdrop of its main façade, classically divided into three frontal zones.

Renovation

Despite the issued demolition permit, the investor decided after long deliberation to preserve and renovate the palace. The most important aspect was securing the foundation and roof structures, as the entire palace had severely compromised statics. During the renovation, well-preserved original stucco ceilings, an entire staircase, and valuable load-bearing structures on the ground floor were discovered. This space was transformed into a café or restaurant, while the upper floors were adapted for office use.
The Bochner Palace constitutes an important urban element of the Vlněna complex. Its uniqueness is enhanced by the newly expanding Přízova Street, which leads toward the Palace from the Main Train Station.
