Byte in tone with cork
At the beginning, there was an apartment, whose space consisted of a winding and complicated corridor, several small chambers, and a dull living room. The clients' wishes included significant demands on the organization of the space (kitchen enclosed – open, connected to the living area – not connected) as well as on the concept of material and color solutions (soft color shades in tones of beige and combinations with wooden elements and niches).

And so – the new layout should be clear and straightforward: from the entrance, a view opens into the main living area through a spacious hallway – entryway. This was aided by the decision to demolish a load-bearing pillar that obstructed visibility. The right side of the hallway integrates the maximum storage space in the furniture block and access to two rooms. Behind the left wall of the hallway, careful chiseling created a practical bathroom with both a bathtub and a shower, as well as a spacious toilet. Another block follows: the kitchen – tucked around the corner yet still accessible, shielded by an island, and connected to the living area through a small window. The last significant furniture block addresses the long wall of the living room, utilizing the slope of the house's perimeter wall – creating a cozy seating area on a padded bench by the table.

Colors are everything and nothing at the same time in this design. The subtle tonal matching required careful work with samples and combinations. The result is cork on the floor, complemented by beige-gray monochromatic furniture blocks, wooden niches in light tones of bleached oak. The contrast is added by light turquoise tiles in the bathroom, which stand out next to the creamy epoxy coating. Accents are provided here and there by black fixtures, bathroom fittings, or door hardware.

The atmosphere is cozy, gentle, muted, light, and upon entering the apartment, you feel like – home.
