SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTThe residential building TRIANGOLO was created as a dialogue between natural conditions, the city, and the construction site. The Nitra Hills, Zobor, and the meander of the Nitra River served as the basic inspirational landmarks. The triangular plot and the wavy roof, along with the spatial and material concept, ultimately shaped the architecture into its final form. From a typological perspective, it is partially a three-wing structure, with corridors illuminated by natural light from the vertical skylight that runs the full height. The architectural expression is dominated by the use of a single material, with two facades of the same appearance and a rounded section of the roof with domes. The spatial and structural principles stem from the load-bearing reinforced concrete cores, which allowed for the creation of apartments in various size categories. A distinctive concept is also reflected in the house sign placed at the entrance.
JURY STATEMENT FOR THE DUŠAN JURKOVIČ AWARD 2008The jury appreciated the overall solution of the residential building, which has the potential to become a new architectural symbol of the city. They perceive it as a proportional and balanced object that is, despite its boldness, in harmony with its surroundings. It has the potential to contribute positively to the coexistence of the community in broader urban contexts. Its inhabitants can identify well with the extraordinary architecture. The building is unique in its harmony between an unusual exterior form and a quality interior environment. The clear organization of the building offers sensory experiences in both the common areas and the apartments, which, despite their extreme shapes, are very livable. The jury is convinced that this object has infused the place with new positive energy.
