Apartment building on Resslova Street

On the site of the original dilapidated two-story house from the late 19th century, we were to design an extension. The investigation revealed that the walls were inadequate and had to be demolished. We proposed a new building that references the rhythm of the original façade. We did not want a flat roof in the urban landscape of the old town; instead, we aimed to animate the rooftop landscape. The roof is therefore structured in the rhythm of the façade and, together with the extension, is meant to serve as an added element above the original body of the house. The building respects the original placement of the passage, windows, and façade cornice. It emphasizes details such as wooden screens in front of window openings or ribbed plaster. The house slightly expands toward the courtyard, with the preserved passage serving as the entrance to the house and subsequently providing access to the shelter in the courtyard, which is partially covered by a green roof. The ground floor contains rental spaces, while the next four floors are divided into apartment units of sizes 2kk-3kk.
