The Kaspers are building a gallery of contemporary art in the relatively well-preserved buildings of the coal-fired power plant from the beginning of the 20th century in the industrial eastern part of Trutnov. The core of the exhibition activities will be large-scale art objects. The conversion of the industrial area with the architecture characterized mainly by gray brickwork takes place in stages. In its target state, the gallery will offer more than 4,000 m² of indoor exhibition space and more than 10,000 m² of open-air exhibits with works of art exhibited in the park by the buildings in relation to the embankment of the Ličná river.
The original building elements, details and equipment are preserved and renovated to the maximum extent. We also come into the construction with contemporary interventions such as distinctive shelters above the entrances, a steel staircase from the ground floor to the turbine hall gallery, gallery railings, leveling stairs and ramps, glass walls. We also developed a system of adjustable exhibition panels.
From distant views, the area of the original Poříčí 1 Power Plant was characterized by a silhouette with massive chimneys. We work with this motif, and we are preparing a steel exceeding object growing from a stair tube. The illuminated artefact will become a significant element of the gallery, especially from distant views, for example from the future flyover of a nearby motorway body.
