At the end of July 2015, the Domesi Concept House 2 began to be built in the village of Budíkov near Humpolec. This is a type house Futura NEO from the architectural office Prodesi, which will be built to passive standard. The construction of the house was chosen using massive wooden panels made of cross-laminated timber (CLT). Domesi Concept House 2 will be available to those who want to experience living in a modern wooden building firsthand. It will welcome its first visitors at the turn of the year.
“
The model of the house, where people can try living in a wooden building has proven successful with the first Domesi Concept House, which we built four years ago in the Liberec region. The great interest in this project has confirmed our idea to build a second Domesi Concept House,” says architect Pavel Horák from the Prodesi studio.
Thanks to its construction solution, Domesi Concept House 2
consumes less than 15 kWh/m²/year of heat and thus falls into the category of
passive houses.
One of the key points in constructing a passive house is the suitable placement of the building in relation to the cardinal directions. Our house is oriented with its main glazed wall to the south with a shift to the southeast. This orientation enables the installation of photovoltaics. The house will be equipped with wooden euro windows with triple glazing with Ug = 0.5, which will be complemented by external blinds that will prevent heat penetration and overheating of the interior during the summer months.
The preparation of hot water will take place in a tank located in the recuperation unit with a heat pump. The air in the house will be heated thanks to recuperation within the heat pump. For heating the house, electric underfloor heating was chosen on the ground floor and heating radiators on the second floor. Another source of heat will be wood-burning stoves.
“
We enjoy designing not only houses but also their interiors,” says Pavel Horák, adding: “
We prefer simple clean lines and quality materials that highlight the natural beauty of wood. This is also the reason why we contacted traditional Czech manufacturers with whom we have been working for some time.”
To make visitors feel at home, Domesi Concept House 2 will be completely furnished with furniture from traditional Czech companies that the architects collaborate with. The bedroom will be furnished with the
Mamma collection by Jitona. The kitchen with a dining area will feature a dining table and chairs from
TON. The lights will be from the renowned domestic manufacturer
Brokis. Custom carpentry elements will be commissioned from skilled
local carpenters.
