The climatic conditions of the mountain environment clearly defined the user's requirements. Simply, straightforwardly, and pragmatically, a small inexpensive house is designed at the foot of Ještěd. The archetypal form becomes a natural part of the peripheral residential area of Liberec.
The minimum dimensions of the building, where the usable area of the house without a garage is approximately 110 m², require an almost engineering approach to the design. All spaces, from the technical room to the living room, are designed to the millimeter, including the arrangement of furniture and the placement of items within it. Only in this way is it possible to achieve the impression of spacious and comfortable living despite the small size, as there is no wasted space in the house. Everything is functional and space-saving, yet cozy, like a wolf's den.
The owners preferred natural materials. The larch cladding of the façade is left to the influence of the weather so that it slowly acquires a silver patina over time. Weathered titanium zinc is used on the roof. The interior features a visible concrete ceiling in contrast to the wooden floor. The built-in furniture is then in a neutral white color.
This is a house where the owners want to truly be masters and not slaves to their home; where the family house is understood as a practical means of living rather than an exhibition legacy for future generations.
