The building was created on the site of the original log cabin, in a hidden valley - neighboring only a few cottages. During the time of intense development of the local settlement, the valley was completely cleared, and it appeared as a gentle trough in the surrounding meadows. Today, the place is hidden among tall forests that shield it from the sun's rays.
The intention emerged after a long discussion about the entire building, from the decision to demolish the original house, through its arrangement and aesthetics, to detailed construction solutions. The basic idea was a non-invasive restoration of the original cottage, adhering to the original characteristic features - primarily the location of the building, its size and proportions, interior arrangement, and material solutions. The aim was to seamlessly connect the structural, technological, and aesthetic qualities of traditional and modern construction.
On a visible concrete base, a precisely crafted wooden frame construction is installed, insulated with breathable wood-fiber materials. The sandwich outer structures are designed entirely without the use of films and OSB boards. The layers utilize the natural properties of quality materials. The large spans of the ceiling beams, by today's standards, stem from the original, fully functional design of the building.
Frame-free glazing, in combination with windows in the original proportions, allows maximum light and sunlight into the living room. The facades are clad with various types of wooden siding, including shingles.
The main living space is, of course, the living room. On the ground floor, there is also a solid workshop and social facilities. In the attic, there are small rooms for family.
With a sense of traditional craftsmanship and attention to the last detail of the interior, the clients themselves carried out the construction!
The house has brought joy to both us and the clients since the study phase, through the realization, and even now during its use. We believe that this universally positive story is evident in the result.
