House with a barn

The family house Kolín by 0.5 Studio is an elegantly and modestly designed new building that, due to its simple form, blends into the landscape at the border of a field and an oak forest. The project originated from the requirement to connect the house with the surrounding nature. The house is based on the archetype of a family house with a barn, working with a striking mass contrast and an iconic "cut-off" viewpoint – a strip of panoramic windows on the upper floor that opens views of the vast landscape.
The house itself has an elevated, dominant composition, while the shelter and barn appear linear and functional. The ground floor consists of an open living space with a kitchen, workspace, and back rooms. The upper floor includes children's rooms, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a toilet. The shelter offers protected outdoor seating, and the barn serves as both a parking and creative space.
The exterior is clad in black horizontally placed boards, which emphasize the horizontal line of the landscape while creating a contrast with the light wooden interior in soft, light shades. Thanks to the large windows and the open living space, the interior is closely linked to the garden and the surrounding nature. Clean lines and natural materials create a calm and harmonious environment that respects the context of the land and the needs of its inhabitants.
The upper floor functions as a viewpoint into the landscape, while the elongated mass of the barn complements the composition of the house and refers to traditional agricultural architecture. The project thus combines a modern conception of living with a sensitive relationship to the site.

Technical solution
The energy concept of the building utilizes a ground-source heat pump, underfloor heating, and triple glazing with high insulating properties.
