House in Brandýs nad Orlicí

House in Brandýs nad Orlicí
Completion:2018
Area:156 m2
Built Up Area:119 m2

A new structure has grown around the original garage and has concealed it within itself. Above the garage, a floor with bedrooms and a bathroom has been created, while the social part of the house is on the ground floor, connected to the terrace and garden by a large sliding window. The house consists of simple cubic shapes, except for the rounded corner near the intersection of the adjacent streets; this detail seamlessly unifies the western and southern facades, and its soft effect is intended to enhance the view for passersby.
The shape of the house adapts to the plot - a corner lot, while fulfilling the building program and the requirement that the garden and outdoor terrace be shielded from the street view. The design has also accounted from the beginning for the preservation of a pear tree that naturally shades the terrace. The roof on the lower part of the house is utilized as a terrace with access from the parents' bedroom. The facade is made of larch boards placed vertically on the first floor and horizontally on the upper floor.
