House in Three Gardens, Zminný

House in Three Gardens, Zminný
The unconventional elongated shape of the plot and the orientation of neighboring buildings led to the construction of a house that is embedded in the center of the parcel. Along the extension of its footprint, two smaller, formally identical structures are built, partially obscuring the main volume and dividing the extensive grounds. This division creates three reasonably sized sections with different atmospheres. The garden at the entrance to the house is designed as a visual space, and therefore is more open and formal. The garden in contact with the main living area serves as its extension and has a more intimate character. In this part, the house is completely open with a window spanning two stories from the living room, or rather, the dining room. In the summer months, it is possible to connect the spaces, resulting in a complete merging of the garden with the interior. The third garden is hidden behind the gazebo and its character approaches the natural landscape. The boundary between the garden and the forest nearly disappears here, creating a smooth transition into nature. The forest is drawn into the interior through a large window and becomes a living backdrop to the family's everyday life, perceivable in all its size – from the trunks to the crowns. The connecting element of all three gardens is a wall made of exposed concrete, which runs through the plot, ensuring desired privacy and seamlessly transforming into garden structures.
In contrast to the raw exposed concrete, which is used extensively, the house is clad in wooden siding. Over the course of several years, this will turn gray, the greenery in the garden will grow, and the entire house will blend more with the adjacent forest. The black color of the windows and "cutouts" in the house highlights the two materials mentioned above and the surrounding environment.
