Fáru's House

Fáru's House
Buy a house. For years I passed it by and considered its Renaissance sgraffito facade with the bay window, beneath which there were swallow nests, an unattainable beauty. Inside there was a mutilated body. The house needed to be recreated and given a living essence. Together with Roman Koucký, whose work I admire for its humility and effect, sobriety and courage, we continuously discussed my ideas. "Fára's house" will establish a dialogue between the old architecture of the 16th century and the new endings of the 20th century. In the spirit of Fára's work, it will have clear compositional principles, axial views, order, geometry, and refined simplicity. A combination of rawness with the elegance of authentic old and modern construction elements. Minimalism in concept and materials: stone, concrete, steel, wood. No tiles on the walls, no pastel colors. I ask for "photographic" coloring, that is, a range of gray, black, and white. In addition, the color of ochre, which repeats in the sgraffito of the facade, the wall of the study, the wooden grilles, and the new windows and doors. To maintain the whole, like a musical composition, to emphasize individual motifs through repetition. I wanted a three-room apartment with precisely defined functions and views everywhere, so I could savor the space. The essence of the house is life in culture. The fire in the fireplace is one of the elements present in the house along with water in the magical surface of the pool. In the garden, there is both sky and earth. To create a house.
