Today, the legendary Prague shop for paints and graffiti supplies, Graffneck, has expanded. For ten years, it has successfully offered its range in Letná, and now it is moving its operations to another Prague district, close to Smíchov Railway Station.

The entire Smíchov area is closely associated with graffiti culture. Nearby is the legal Barrandov zone, as well as the railway siding. The shop is located at the intersection of Pod Tratí and Nádražní streets, in direct proximity to the railway, almost beneath a railway bridge. The post-industrial atmosphere of the location, the city's inability to integrate it into urban activity, and the abundance of graffiti in the immediate vicinity create a strong impetus for the emergence of a subcultural shop like this one. Frequent trains passing overhead give the place a certain rawness, underscoring the atmosphere that is part of the graffiti community. The shop is not exclusively focused on spray paints and markers for graffiti but also offers other products for fine art, car tuning, as well as industrial products, such as those for road marking.

The design of the shop space, with its minimalist clarity, responds to the striking visual form of graffiti in the area. The sharp contrast of colorful goods in a strictly delineated environment, together with the aesthetically crafted atmosphere of the store, can seem almost incongruous - like a laboratory on the street. The goal was to create a stark space that does not compete with the offered goods and their colorful range.

Dominating the space are two black counters with illuminated glass work surfaces underneath which small items are displayed. The remaining space of the counters can be used for convenient storage of goods. The main sales area consists of two walls with a total length of 15 m, neatly stacked with sprays, markers, and other products. This wall is separated by a black railing, which delineates the space for customers and staff. Railings in other areas of the interior complement the space and reference the streets of Prague. Many of us have often used them for seating as well.

The architectural strategy for modeling the interior emphasized muted colors, gray and black, used in such a way that they completely overshadowed the material properties of individual elements. A concrete screed covered with paint suitable for industrial operations was used for the floor. The other metal elements of the shelves, railings, and wooden counters are unified in black. The store's lighting can be divided into three circuits. The main fluorescent lights reflect the industriality of the environment. The other two, the lighting for the counters and the lighting for the shelves with paints, are purely functional sources that effectively highlight the goods. The starkness of the design refers even to the aesthetics of exhibition spaces and the presentation of artworks.

The new Graffneck store in Prague's Smíchov offers an advanced perspective on selling its range. It focuses more on the Concept Store format rather than on the classic sale of paints and lacquers.
