Area of Ammunition Warehouses - Renovation of the Old Lodge and Surrounding Area
In collaboration with the City Forests of Bratislava, the Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava, and the DIVO studio, we have proposed the reconstruction of the gamekeeper's lodge and surrounding area in the former ammunition warehouse site on Pekná Road. The lodge still retains arched spaces of a semi-buried cellar. The building will be intended for the public as a pavilion for leisure activities such as grilling or wine tasting, and will also serve as a base for people heading into the city forests for hiking or biking.
The starting point for the landscaping managed by the DIVO studio is the form of the reconstruction of the ammunition warehouse building and the location of existing main elements such as the well, etc. The site is designed to create wetlands and shade areas through surface water retention, enhancing local biodiversity. The proposal for vegetation modifications connects with the surrounding nature and existing structures of fruit trees in the area due to its natural character. New plantings will consist mainly of native tree species, in a nature-approaching form and old regionally close varieties of fruit trees. Deciduous trees (alders and willows) will be planted in a group near the large marsh by the Račiansky Brook. Movement in the area will be organized via logically arranged paths considering the elevation changes of the terrain, with leisure areas placed near the central building. The area will be complemented with fire pits of a nature-friendly character, wooden furniture, and interactive elements for resting and leisure activities. Emphasis is placed on natural materials for all proposed elements.
