The apartment complex in Aldrov offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. It invites active relaxation and is a great choice for providing comfort in the mountains within a reasonable distance from Prague.
At the client's request, we transformed the standard interior of the offered attic 3-room apartment into a generous airy 2-room space, which, through its layout, provides sufficient privacy for its users. The space is not utilized for year-round living, so one can play with the idea of a space that can be used for gathering a larger group of friends, while also providing a pleasant and cozy area for its owners who want to enjoy moments of relaxation.
The kitchen is cleverly placed under the gallery so that one appears to walk through it into the living room, without dividing the actual space. Appliances, storage areas, and a wood storage are located under the stairs.
The stairs themselves, along with the dominant fireplace stove, serve as a compositional accent.
The lights hanging from the high ceiling are necessarily adjusted to emphasize the height and space. They are perceived from all angles, both from the living area and the gallery, as well as from the view from the bedroom when opening the two sliding doors.
Only the bedroom on the gallery is separated, where there is also a study with another possible sleeping area. The gallery railing is a combination of glass and metal, allowing both a view of the landscape and visually separating potential sleeping areas between the gallery and the space under the slanted part of the living room. The furniture is chosen so that in the event of a potential, rather rare, full occupancy, it provides sleeping options for a whole family of five.
The materials used—wood, metal, stone, leather, or fur, along with the crackling fire and the scent of wood—create a pleasant mountain atmosphere, accentuated by varied intimate lighting.
