Interior of the AnonymouS bar
Architect: Eva Bradáčová
Address: Michalská  432/12, Old City, Prague, Czech Republic
Completion:2012
Area:105 m2

The bar is located in the historic center of Prague, just a few steps from the Old Town Square. The bar's owners drew inspiration from their favorite movie “V for Vendetta,” and the entire interior design was developed in this style. The hall with vaulted ceilings in the historic house U Zlatého melounu, which shows Gothic and Renaissance modifications, was an absolutely superb space for successfully fulfilling this vision.

The interior evokes the atmosphere of the hideout of the main character Guy Fawkes, who was behind the assassination attempt on the Protestant King James I and members of both chambers of the English Parliament in Westminster Palace. In the hideout, you will find antique furniture, works of art, paintings, and decorations, richly patterned carpets, as well as a contrasting part – a prison.

You enter the AnonymouS bar through a passage from the bustling Michalská street and soon find yourself in a small, quiet, and shady courtyard with a fountain. During the spring, summer, and autumn, you can enjoy outdoor seating surrounded by the history of old Prague.

Upon entering the interior, you find yourself in a smaller hall that is adorned with inscriptions and excerpts from the film, making the dark space intriguing and immersing the uninitiated in the proper atmosphere. In this space, which serves as a transition between the calm atmosphere of the main hall and the stark and cold restrooms, there is a cloakroom. It is designed as a barred cell. The restrooms are designed like a real prison. Using 3D graphics, not only the walls and doors but also the sanitary ceramics – toilet bowls, sinks, and urinals – have been styled. The graphics are part of the entire interior. The black-and-white mask and the name “AnonymouS” appear on the walls, in the form of a large logo on the wall, in endless texts on the windows, and are also engraved on the bar stools.

The main hall has a cozy style with wooden floors, rugs, replicas of antique furniture, velvet couches, and intricately carved chairs. It is complemented by hanging copies of famous paintings, weapon replicas, mirrors in golden, Baroque frames, and draped decorative textiles on the windows. At the end of the hall, there is a raised wooden stage that can be separated by a light curtain to provide privacy. The space is dominated by a wooden bar designed like a library.

All these elements serve to create a pleasant and cozy living room environment, where you can enjoy a great drink and an excellent cigar. However, the atmosphere is not the only reason you should visit this bar. The bartenders pride themselves on their personal touch in creating cocktails that are becoming known and sought after in Prague. The “Flair” art of the bartenders is also a major experience.
